INTRODUCTION

Selecting and buying a Moth is the most important thing you will do on Titan. Your Moth determines how well you can fly and fight. The different Moths all have their advantages and disadvantages. Below are two tables that show relative Moth characteristics and costs.

Most people like the Neo-Tiger and Swallow for their speed. You can get a lot done in a little time with these Moths. The Swallow's so good that it's almost a cheat to use it in the offline game. It's only disadvantage seems to be that you can't fit a laser turret to it. The Neo-Tiger supports a turret, but is frailer and slower than the Swallow. I still like Neo-Tigers. Scavengers may well do better with a Hawk or a Moon Moth. The Hawk is tougher and more manuverable than the Neo-Tiger and has plenty of speed to run salvaged cargo. The Moon Moth is even more manuverable, but not as tough or as fast as a Hawk. After buying a hangar and maybe a Cell upgrade, I suggest saving up for a better Moth.

MOTH TRADING

You can't sell Moths directly to the public (-sigh-). The only way to get anything out of a Moth is to trade it in for another at a substantial loss. Check the first table above to see how big those losses are.

The best bet for saving money is to trade only once. This way you trade in your original Silver-Y that you got for free for $7,500. Trade for the Moth you expect to play the bulk of the game with. As you get wealthy, you can start buying Moths at your leisure without a trade-in.

Remember to strip your Moth down before trading it in. Remove everything you possibly can: pods, drone, cannons. Your missiles and software stay with the Moth so remember to budget for immediate upgrades when getting a new Moth. Check out my Software and Weapons pages for prices.
